iPad 2 Screen Magnification with Speech Option

This feature will read text in websites, emails, word documents, etc. This feature works whether VoiceOver is turned on or not. This feature works in coordination with Zoom (magnification).

What do you need turned On?
Zoom - screen magnifier
Speak selection - like a narrator
Speak Auto Text

How? - Home PageOpen (one tap) Settings icon (looks like a gear)It takes you to General. Select (tap) Accessibility (in bottom frame)Next screen, top of frame, tap Zoom and move the sider to on. Just because it is on doesn't mean you have you use the magnifier. However, in the on position you can turn Zoom on any time with a 3 finger double tap.Next screen, in top frame, find Speak Selection, and tap it. Next screen, at top, tap the OFF button. It should change to ON. Below that, slide the bar for Speaking Rate. When in a text file, internet page, or text field press and hold on desired text.A pop up menu will appear. Tap on desired action. (Copy, select, select all, or define, speak). Select or select all is used to highlight text. Copy is used to copy text; choose paste in next menu bar. Define will bring up a dictionary entry for that highlighted word. A blue field with 2 blue buttons/sliders will appear over the text. Drag a blue button to highlight text desired. Once text is highlighted, the pop up menu appears again, which may contain new menu items.Tap button for desired function.

Typically I just hold and press the screen. This selects All. The I press Speak. The narrator will the read the select text on the page. The key word is text not link. Text is basically what VoiceOver refers to as static text. Static meaning its stuck there and doesn't change.
